Meet the founder

Hi, I'm Shauna.

Software engineer and founder of Jellies, based in Charlotte, NC.

How it started

Someone I cared about was struggling quietly.

A friend of mine went through a really difficult period with depression. They were struggling, but they weren't reaching out to the people closest to them. Not because they didn't need support, but because saying "I'm not okay" to the people who matter most is genuinely hard.

Once the right people found out, everything shifted. They showed up. They supported them in exactly the ways they needed. They got through it, not alone, but surrounded. That image of what's possible when your people actually know you're struggling stayed with me. I didn't want anyone else to go through that quietly when they didn't have to.

The idea

What if no one had to be the first to say it?

The more I thought about it, the more I realized the problem wasn't just crisis situations. A lot of people I know are going through something quietly. Social media shows the highlights. Group chats are busy. Life moves fast. The people who care about you most often have no real window into how you're actually doing day to day.

Jellies started from a simple question: what if checking in was something everyone did together, every day, so that no one ever had to be the one who breaks the silence alone? If you're already sharing, asking for a little extra support feels like a much smaller ask. If someone is having a hard time, the people who care about them can show a little extra love, be a little more patient, or just let them know they're seen.

We're already scrolling daily, habitually, looking for connection. I wanted to build a version of that where what you see isn't curated for likes or optimized for engagement. Just the real, everyday feelings of the people who actually know you.

About me

A software engineer who cares a little too much about people.

I'm a software engineer based in Charlotte, NC. By day I work full-time as a software engineer at nCino. Outside of that, I build custom websites and web applications for small businesses and nonprofits. I care about using my skills to build things people actually need, and Jellies is the most personal expression of that.

Jellies is my first consumer app, and I'm the only person behind it: the design, the development, the updates, the support inbox. All of it. Honestly, I love it. Getting to build something that people actually use to stay connected with the people they love is one of the most meaningful things I've ever worked on.

I have a lot of ideas for where Jellies is going, and I'm so excited to keep building. More features, more ways to connect, more ways to make it easier to show up for the people who matter. This is really just the beginning, and I genuinely can't wait to share what comes next.

I built this in the hope that no one becomes invisible. That everyone has a circle that actually knows how they're doing. When someone is struggling, the people who love them should already be there.

If this resonates with you, I built it for you.

Jellies is free to download. If it means something to you, the best thing you can do is share it with the people you'd want in your circle.
